All about e-billing at the EDITEL information seminar!

To further reinforce the information exchange between trading companies and suppliers regarding paperless invoicing with digital signature, EDITEL Austria invited customers and business partners for a second e-billing information seminar on March, 15 2011 to the Vienna chamber of commerce (WKÖ Wien).

Regulatory compliant
Mag. Peter Franzmair, CEO EDITEL Austria welcomed about 100 attendees and emphasized the considerable developments regarding the implementation of electronic invoicing in the last months. Mag. Karl Cegner, GS1 Austria GmbH, held an introductory presentation on the legal framework as well as the standardized EDI-process and clarified that according to tax law both invoice issuer and invoice recipient are responsible for the authenticity and integrity of the invoice data. In this respect the digital signature is a secure and regulatory compliant solution.

Trading companies ready to act
e-billing is approved also by the trading companies. SPAR Austria is successfully using e-billing since November 2011. According to Mag. Klaus Schaffer, responsible central purchasing department, SPAR is actively exchanging invoices with 12 suppliers. The objective is to migrate as many INVOICE suppliers as possible as well as the additional gradual integration of new suppliers. Also Prok. Johann Müllner, Head of Central Accounting of Markant Austria signalized the willingness and readiness of his company.

DI Norbert Bures, CEO REWE Dienstleistungs Gesellschaft announced that REWE is planning to migrate about 60 per cent of the total volumina of suppliers to paperless invoicing. REWE is a leading figure regarding the implementation of e-billing with digital signature. As first company it developed and implemented a standardized EDI-process with digital signature together with GS1 Austria and EDITEL Austria. One of the first suppliers involved in the test phase, was Pickfein Lebensmittel GmbH. Its CEO Dr. Christoph Falkensammer presented a pratical view on the implementation of e-billing at the information seminar. He concludes that e-billing saves monthly invoice lists, paper, envelopes and postal charges while requiring a relatively small initial investment.

Suppliers embrace e-billing
The second representative from the supplier side Ljuban Magedlinic, EDV Leiter, Wiesbauer Österreichische Wurstspezialitäten GmbH is convinced by e-billing as well and encouraged the participants to start with the implementation as soon as possible in order to benefit from the full potential of the technology. More than an estimated 600 Millionen Euro are still not used, according to the analysis of several research studies by Mag. Gerd Marlovits, Direktor Marketing & Sales, EDITEL Austria GmbH. To facilitate the practical implementation, Mag. Cegner presented 7 steps to the successful implementation of paperless invoicing, from the first agreement with your business partner, the right EDI-solution to the final Go Live.

The conclusion of this second e-billing event remains positive, nevertheless aggressive. E-billing with digital signature can only develop its full potential if there is a branchwide standardized implementation. The effort in this direction has to be continuously reinforced.
