EDI is the key to success for baytronic

Streamlined sales processes …

… are the ultimate goal of innovative sales concepts like dropshipping, which is executed to perfection by baytronic, an electronics distributor based in Upper Austria. The not-so-secret ingredient: EDI!

Baytronic HandelsgmbH processes up to 1,000 orders daily. Founded by Franz Lang in 2000, this specialized retail company for household appliances and consumer electronics has seen explosive growth over the past two decades. Today, at its headquarters in Asten, Upper Austria, approximately 30 employees contribute to the company’s success, and two additional central warehouses, offering a combined storage capacity of around 10,000 pallet spaces, have been established in Vienna and Salzburg. Baytronic stands out as the official distributor for international brands like LG Electronics and Duracell, and its proprietary brand, NABO, has carved a niche in the domestic market. The recipe for this success, according to CEO Franz Lang? “Consistency, trust, and a clear direction.” Mr. Lang maintains this ethos when it comes to technological innovations: “When you operate at a certain level, it’s essential to be on the cutting edge.” That’s one reason why the company recently integrated EDI in their collaboration with some Austrian retail partners.

A rewarding investment

Ever heard of dropshipping? It’s an e-commerce business model where the ordered product is shipped directly from the distributor’s warehouse, eliminating the need for retailers to store the merchandise. Baytronic leverages this model to enhance collaboration with large and renowned partners around its private brand, NABO. “To successfully implement dropshipping – especially in terms of speed – introducing an EDI operation was a no-brainer for us,” explains Franz Lang. This necessitated integrating orders, despatch advices, and invoices into baytronic’s proprietary inventory management system, Navision, a task entrusted to EDITEL last year. After a few tweaks to the product master data and the establishment of interfaces, baytronic’s EDI operations have been smoothly running for some time now. The final takeaway from the baytronic team:

“Orders are now automatically captured in our inventory system, making order processing significantly faster and reducing potential errors. All in all, it’s been a huge relief for the entire team.”

In brief
